Inés Cruz joined V&A as an Associate in November 2025, having previously served as Paralegal from September 2014 - November 2025, and as an Intern from October 2013 – September 2014. Inés works in the Wage and Hour Division and Discrimination Division of the Firm.
As a Paralegal, Inés assisted the Attorneys at all phases of the litigation process, by filling pleadings and legal documents at Federal and State Court. Due her legal education in both Civil and Common Law, her legal interpretation skill in Spanish and English, is essential for the Attorney- Client communication in all stages of litigation. Inés handled cases from the initial prelitigation stage (intakes), through discovery (preparing clients for deposition, attending depositions , and obtaining information related to the documents and interrogatories requests), mediation, settlement, and/or preparation for trial. Inés drafted translations of legal documents, such as affidavits in support of plaintiffs request for class action certification, settlement notices, class action notices, among others. Consequently, Inés has acknowledgement and skills in litigation on individual, collective and class action claims.
Since 2013, Inés has been the weekly speaker at many Latin American consulates located in New York and New Jersey. Her presentations are related to the labor law rights, including unpaid wages (federal and statutory minimum wage, overtime and prevailing wage), discrimination (including sexual harassment), recommendations on how workers can protect their rights, and how litigation works in the US Legal System.
Since 2014, Inés has been a guest speaker at the Labor Law Week organized each year by the Consulate General of Mexico in New York. Also, has been a guest speaker at the Labor Law Day occasionally organized by the Consulate General of Guatemala in New York and Consulate General of Ecuador in New York. Inés has been a guest speaker in many nonprofit organizations such as St. Jerome HANDS Community Center, Dejus Center, Casa Puebla (in New Jersey) and Mexican Coalition.
Inés is one of the most frequent contributors to the Viriginia & Ambinder, LLP., Spanish blog section. Inés frequently writes about the minimum wage rates in New York and New Jersey, overtime, prevailing wage rates; discrimination practices at the workplace; and recommendations for workers to protect their rights at the place of employment.
Inés is an Attorney admitted to practice law in the State of New York and in Guatemala. She graduated from Law School at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She received an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Information and Technology from Fordham University in 2012. During her studies, Inés was a Member of the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media, and Entertainment Law Journal, where she contributed with translations and research. While at Fordham Law, during the Spring 2012 semester, she taught a Legal Spanish course.
Inés has received awards from the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly, the Consulate General of El Salvador in New Jersey, and the Consulate General of Mexico in New York for the service she provides to the Latin American community. Inés has also received certificates from the Consulate General of Mexico in New York for being a yearly guest speaker at the Consulate General of Mexico in New York Labor Law week, where her presentations have reached thousands of viewers.
Prior to joining Virginia & Ambinder, LLP, Inés interned at the Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the United Nations and worked at the Consulate of Guatemala in New York as a legal assistant.
Inés is a Legal Interpreter (Passed the Legal Interpreter Court Exam in October 2025).
