On January 18, 2023, V&A's Leonor Hidalgo Coyle and LaDonna Lusher held an employee rights presentation at the Institute of Culinary Education to educate students about labor laws and how they relate to the restaurant industry. The presentation discussed typical lawsuits and claims brought against restaurants and how restaurant owners can best protect themselves from lawsuits, including discussions of recordkeeping equipment, permissible and impermissible wage deductions, discrimination, sexual harassment, sick leave, and tipping practices.
