V&A Holds Employee Rights Class at the Institute of Culinary Education

By Abigail Frankel

On January 18, 2023, V&A's Leonor Hidalgo Coyle and LaDonna Lusher held an employee rights presentation at the Institute of Culinary Education to educate students about labor laws and how they relate to the restaurant industry. The presentation discussed typical lawsuits and claims brought against restaurants and how restaurant owners can best protect themselves from lawsuits, including discussions of recordkeeping equipment, permissible and impermissible wage deductions, discrimination, sexual harassment, sick leave, and tipping practices.

If you have any questions regarding these subjects or believe you are a victim of tipping violations, wage underpayment, or workplace discrimination or harassment, do not hesitate to contact us at (212) 943-9080. All consultations are free and confidential.
