On January 30, 2019, V&A associate Alanna Sakovits shared her testimony at the NYC Commission on Human Rights Public Hearing on Pregnancy and Caregiver Discrimination. The event, along with Sakovits’ testimony, set new lactation accommodations requirements for employees.

The state of New York adopted new rules requiring employers to provide employees with lactation accommodations in the workplace. Employers are required to have a written lactation policy that meets requirements under the law and must provide it to all new employees.
