Leonor Hidalgo Coyle joined Virginia & Ambinder, LLP as an associate in August 2009 and works at our Lower Manhattan offices. Leonor works on wage and hour class action litigation, specifically representing workers seeking to recover unpaid prevailing wages and supplemental benefits earned for work on publicly financed construction projects. She also represents workers seeking unpaid minimum wages and overtime compensation pursuant to State and Federal overtime laws.

During her employment at V&A, Leonor has served as co-counsel on several class action and individual bench and jury trials in New York Supreme Court-New York County and the District Courts for Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, successfully recovering millions of dollars in unpaid wages for  workers in diverse industries.

For almost a decade, Leonor has served as the principal consulting attorney for labor and employment law at numerous central and south American consulates throughout New York and New Jersey.  She has also been a guest speaker and/or panelist on issues including but not limited to, wage theft, prevailing wage laws, class action law suits, sexual harassment and discrimination at numerous not for profit agencies and educational institutions.

Prior to joining Virginia & Ambinder, LLP, Leonor worked as an Assistant District Attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where she obtained extensive courtroom experience, and tried numerous bench and jury trials.

Leonor obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2006, where she received the Archibald R. Murray Cum Laude Award for her commitment to public service.

Leonor was born, raised, and educated through high school in Caracas Venezuela, and consequently is a fluent Spanish speaker.
